Successes in Missouri

March 17th, 2008 9:38 pm by Chester Lunt ·

In the country conventions which occurred over the weekend, Ron Paul supporters managed to get majorities in a great many counties, with several accounts of entire slates of Ron Paul delegates being selected to go on to the State Convention. Because Missouri has a winner take all system, however, even with a majority the current rules state that the national delegates are bound to McCain.

But this does not mean having a majority is meaningless. With a majority, they will be able to set the Missouri GOP platform and rules, thus having a majority is extremely significant in the political process. Reports from several county caucuses show that they managed to pass resolutions in opposition to the Federal Reserve, and other resolutions aimed at reducing the size of government.

The victory over the weekend shows that success can be had in pushing the Republican party back towards true conservatism and limited government - and stands as an example for all conventions to come.
