Brent Sanders Endorsed By Republican Liberty Caucus

April 18th, 2008 11:10 pm by Chester Lunt ·

Brent Sanders has picked up the endorsement of the Republican Liberty Caucus against his opponent, Rodney Alexander, in the race for the 5th Congressional District in Louisiana. The Republican Liberty Caucus was founded in 1990, and has worked to promote small government and ideals within the Republican party. Sanders, a self described Ron Paul Republican, certainly fits the bill.

Sanders recently gave an interview to Liberty Maven in which he discussed his background and roots. A native of Louisiana, Sanders grandfather served as co-mayor of Alexandria, something which helped inspire an interest in politics from a young age. He went on to study Sociology and Political Science in college.

His platform includes eliminating the income tax, stating that when we allow the Government to take as much money from us as they do, it only encourages high spending. He would also fight to reduce government involvement in the health care industry, which has the effect of raising prices and lowering standards. On issues of civil liberties, he would work to repeal the Patriot Act, and end government intrusions into people’s privacy.
